More than 60 years ago, Columbia Bank opened on East 7th Avenue in Ybor City. Today, the restoration of the building, under its new name USAmeriBank, honors the past with an historic version of the original building signage. The replacement, Lady Columbia was designed, manufactured and installed by Thomas Sign and Awning Company, Inc. of Clearwater, Florida.
It It’s no wonder the beautiful neon lady was voted “Readers Choice” by Signs of the Times magazine’s readership. The publication, with both an internet presence and magazine subscribers is a leading publication for the sign industry.
““Our sign being acknowledged by experts in the industry makes us extremely proud of the skill and workmanship of our designers and fabricators, says Sam Feldstein, the company’s COO.””
In a time where most signs are computer formed and illuminated with LEDs, Lady Columbia was hand-formed and illuminated with the beauty of neon. But, she’s not totally a throwback to the 50’s. The sign face was digitally mastered using the latest digital wide-format printing technology combining the “old” and “the new.”
No doubt Lady Columbia will be reigning over Ybor City for another 60 years.
